I am having discussions with Powerflex to develop some steering rack polyurethane bushes for the SW20 MR2. Replacing the old rubber bushes with Powerflex polyurethane bushes will remove the slack that the old rubber bushes have.

Who would be interested in this product ?

id be in for this to.you should see if they would make a new bush for the rubber one that joins the steering pinon arm to the rod that goes up to the colum, they do this on the skyline and 180sx with good results.

Anto do you know the Toyota part number, is it 45254-17030 ?

Take a look at the diagram in the link below and see if that's the one.

UPDATE

I am pleased to anounce that the sales manager of Powerflex has agreed in principle to have the MR2 SW20 steering rack bushes produced.

I have no eta or prices yet, but I am sure they will be reasonably priced like all the other Powerflex products. I will update you when they are ready.

UPDATE

I have been speaking to the Powerflex sales manager today. He told me that Powerflex will have some upgraded steering rack bushes for the SW20 MR2 produced in 2-3 weeks time. They will be sending me some bushes to try on my MR2 before they go on sale.

Pricing will be decided by Powerflex when they are ready to produce the steering rack bushes.

Harper these Powerflex bushes fit on the standard MR2 SW20 power steering rack. I think that you are slightly mixed up, I am developing a rhd quick steer pinion which uses the standard MR2 SW20 power steering rack.

This is partly why I aproached Powerflex because if someone replaces their standard pinion for my quick steer pinion, then that would be a good time to replace the ageing steering rack bushes with the upgraded Powerflex type.
