Red car owners LOOK 12 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 314
I am doing some research on electric polishers at the moment and happened across a very interesting thread on Detailing World forum. I've quoted the pictures/text below to give an idea of what was achieved, however for full details on this particular story please check the original thread here: www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=173093

It arrived looking like this at the massive cost of £250 for the MR2!

If you're suffering from lag, you're either in the wrong gear or the wrong car!

That is impressive. I wonder how long it lasts before the sun fades it again.

I don't know if there is any one stop solution to red paint fade, I think you just need to keep at it. Personally I don't really mind polishing the car once a week or so.

When I bought my mk1 the red paint was very faded almost white or certainly very pink in places , I used a rubbing compound called G 3 and red colour magic and finished it with Autoglym it took me 3 days all by hand no buffer machine because I didn`t have one but it turned out great but I think you have to polish it fairly often to keep it looking good . I have since resprayed my car but that was due to rust . I might buy a clay bar soon but as yet I have never used one . Has anyone on here clayed their car before ,I`ve seen some examples on youtube but haven`t got round to it yet .Here`s one link for example .

That's really impressive, well done!

One thing I've wondered about, is it just me or does one side of the car always get worse paint fade than the other? I've noticed that the pop-up on the drivers side of my mr2 gets pink alot quicker than the other and it looks the same in TurboD's 'before' pics...

Going back to the first photo that Quandry posted, it looks as though they wanted the car to look even worse than it was, why would they have so much over exposure in the photo ?

How long does it take for the normal paint job to fade?

[Edit] Upon reading Marty's post, I must also agree. The color settings have been messed with.

I find with my Rev1 that about a fortnight after a polish/wax you can visably notice the difference in the paint. During the summer you can reduce this time to about a week. I've tried all kinds of sealers but none of them work. I don't mind it really but find it more annoying in winter when there is less opportunity to clean the car.
