So after sitting up over the winter, my engine bay is looking pretty unloved.

I'm looking for recommendations on an engine bay degreaser and if there is any issue with this i'm not thinking of (will be making fuse box waterproof before starting).

For the hoses, should I just buy an aftermarket kit or go back to toyota for genuine hoses. They are far from perished but might just take the opportunity to do them. For a cheaper option, is there a product out there for treating the hoses to freshen them up?

Silicon spray brings hoses up well, just clean them with WD40 first and them spray it on and give them a wipe when it dries in. Any rubber and vinyl detailing product will do the same as well, but its a bit more expensive.

The top part of the inlet manifold and throttle body is the big focal point in the engine bay. Its easy to remove, clean up and paint, as is the cam cover. The exhaust mani heat shield painted with high temp paint looks after the other side of the engine. That will make the engine look like a diamond in a goats arse (to quote a famous tv monkey) for very little money and a little time.

as mentioned, the TB and rocker cover would make a huge difference if I cleaned them up. might experiment with polishing the heat shield as I have some stuff from when I did my wheels. If it fails I can paint it!
