NCT FAIL HIGH EMISSIONS 7 Years ago Karma: 11
Hi lads, my 1995 na has just failed nct on emissions getting 1.05 lambda. I bought a bottle of diptene on the way home. Anything else I can do for the retest

Could be a leak in the exhaust system, a faulty lambda sensor, MAF sensor, MAP sensor, front oxygen sensor, fuel injector(s), or leaking or disconnected air hoses or vacuum pipes.

Is it just the lambda reading that failed or is the Co figures way high too?

Would the trick the turbo lads use with the fuel pressure regulator get you across the line?

Obviously its worth fixing the issue but if your stuck for time might help get the hat trick of discs on the windscreen

Is that the trick of lowering down the fuel pressure? Can that be done on a stock regulator or will he need to have an aftermarket adjustable fuel regulator installed? Is the oem regulator adjustable?
Have you actually seen a turbo owner do this, or are you just getting that suggestion from the lad on my emissions thread on this forum?

I personally use erg and carb cleaner for the emissions along with the diptene seems to work out every time when the nct comes around, u could get a can of spray and try it out.

Aftermarket seen someone mention on here about it - think it was Splaa?

Basically grab an adjustable fuel pressure reg on ebay, etc- arrive and NCT centre and turn it down til the point it almost cuts out.

Pass NCT and put back to normal -> Profit -

not done it myself but saw it mentioned in a thread a while back

Check dizzy cap. It was my cause. So easily overlooked. It was all coroded and stopped the ability to make a decent spark. So ecu compensates causing poor emissions. Good luck
