Car was in a definate need of a wash...using my birds da's Karcher..have to say I was impressed..I've never used a portable one before and might make the
investment!

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

BEFORE: Some VERY bad clear coat scratching on this car...poor thing has obviously been attacked with a sponge for manys a year :(

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

AFTER: First timer using a DA so I will admit I haven't the foggiest what I'm doing...but thats the advantage of using the Kestrel DA
I started off with the finishing pad and menzrena final finish, I then moved onto Menzrena medium cut and finishing pad, and then to medium cutting pad and medium cut menzerna. The car actually looks like it has a new wing on it and it hasn't even been waxed yet! RESULT :) definately some Voodoo inside that Kestrel machine :)

I only done the top half of the wing , I took currans advice as its back breaking repetitive stuff..so I am goin to choose a panel and move through the car

I only picked one of these up the other day in Aldi :) 11.99....you do not want to try and detail without one!

Some small scrapes still need doing but a 1000% improvment

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

Look closely and you can see the difference between door and wing

ALOT DONE...............MORE TO DO.

I removed the front bumper yesterday. About 70% of the screws holding it on ended up breaking. The screws in the wheel arch are badly rusted too.

There is some surface rust on the bumper behind the cover so I will take that off and spray it tomorrow or Saturday.

I removed my air conditioner condenser and power steering rack yesterday. The condenser was crumbling in my hands as it was removed.

The power steering rack was surprisingly simple to remove. The joint assembly did not want to let go at first, but with some persistence it eventually let go.

I don't know why but I was expecting the rack to be heavier than it actually is.

Next job is to disassemble the power steering rack to remove the pinion.

Finally got my road tax, 6 months only as its pricey. I got the shock of my life when I went to get it to find out that it has jumped from €340 to €366!!!!

I wasn't the only one getting less than the 12 months. a Lot of people seem to be only buying 3 or 6 months worth for their cars. Times are getting tougher out there.

Spotted the household charge stand in the Council reception area. Two members of staff standing behind it and not a sinner looking for any forms or info!!!

Took b4ss's advice and stuck back the seals (his leaked even when new till he stuck them down)..drip was completely solved one side but coming and going the other although not as bad until the last few days where theres been constant rain and i'm sick of these leaks.

I've begun to accept the fact that I will have to get new seals eventually but for now I'm putting it on the long finger.

Solution for now: Eccentric Rod Kit..most people in the MR2 world would have heard of these. They basically change the offset of the TBAR roofs guides giving a tighter seal.

From Mr.T you'll need:

4 x 63283-17040 N/STOCK GUIDE = €4.15 each (ex VAT)
4 x 90159-40209 SCREW, WASHER = €0.81 each (ex VAT)

The screws are optional but I just got them as its handier having something you know that fits:

Fitting takes around 10mins per TBar glass at a steady pace and the difference is immediately noticeable.
There is a bit of small force need to close the glass and there is very little gap between the seals now.

careful with the t cut its quite abrasive!

Autoglym SRP and EGP would be right up your alley.
