Sounds like were on for this then, where do you want to meet Smurfster and what time. Looks like Naas or Portlaoise may be best depending on what way you head west.

Thanks, Seems a shame to hide it in the engine bay, it'd make a nice coffee table

Thanks a lot. This was an import to Ireland 3 years ago, the bodykit was completed in the UK a few years before that (an MR3SS Supersport). I bought the car from a chap in Naas 2 years ago and have almost totally rebuilt it (there was a lot wrong with it, but I've since got it going like a dream, had stonking good fun in the GT900 tour last year).

I can't wait to get the V6 in there, am enjoying prepping it though, driving it with that lump is something I've been dreaming about

Cheers.

Those Deloreans really turn heads (despite the fact they're unreliable, I wouldn't mind one myself).

the whole kit was made from blue prints of the 355, an ex ferrari employee got his hands on them and started making them,(one of his first builds was on an episode of top gear). put this car beside the real thing and you just cant tell the difference only for the spacers on the rear wheels, the only visable mr2 bits left was the front windscreen and side windows... we went for this kit cause of the lines, if you follow from the rear to the front you can see the flow of the 355, serious work done tho but was worth it, i think the whole car was extended by a half a foot all sides, rear tires cost us near 500euro each at the time...badges cost us 1200euro .. seen the car once since it was sold a few years back, no sign of it lately tho

Great meeting you today Brian, thanks for the lunch and gametime much appreciated.

The engine looks great, I would say it was dirtier coming out of the factory than it is now. Best of luck with putting it together and looking forward to hearing it roar into life in the coming weeks.

Brian, I don't want to jinx you but what if you was involved in a accident, can you buy individual parts of the 355 kit ?

Good question Marty.

The kit is basically an MR2 with F355 styled body panels. Most of the panels just bolt on, which makes damage repair a lot easier than a normal car (the panels are also easy to get hold of on the internet). Not true for such Fibreglass cars like the TVR, which is almost a single piece body tub (a real pain to repair, and light damage can lead to write offs).

For that reason, the UK Insurance industry often prices annual insurance for these cheaper than the original MR2.

...and there's another thing, if you've spent a lot of money upgrading the MR2 beneath, get bored with the look of the body at some future date, you can always remove it and replace with a different bodykit (F458 Italia, yes please!). Now that's more environmentally friendly than crushing the old beast and buying a new car isn't it.

(Appreciate real MR2 lovers might get a little upset at changing the Toyota styling, plenty of supply at the moment though)
