First of all I am not trying to put this project down. I have followed this thread from its early stages and the thing that I keep asking myself is why is there so much foam filler used. Could it not have been bolted together without the foam filler ? After all, most bodykits for the MR2 do not require foam filler. I realise that this is a lot more complicated, but the panels are said to fit a real Lamborghini, but they don't need filler do they ?

No problem as this kit is massive and measures 17 foot long and 10 foot wide its a massive kit compared to a standard MR2 as for the reason why foam is used is that it knocks out any noise ans stiffens up the bodykit as used by the uk builders. The reason why there is alot of filler used is mainly down to the previous owner as the body panels were really in a horid state and warped so i have had to fix every panel.

OK thanks for the explanation. Is that the same type of foam some car owner inject into their chassis to stiffen it up ?

I was thinking of using something like that in my MR2 chassis, but I am wondering if there would be a chemical reaction with the Waxoyl that I am going to use ?

Hi Marty, its expandable foam from any builder provider it does stiffen up the chassis as for your mr2 with Waxoyl i wouldnt know what chemical reaction would occur

great work peggy its looking very close to the finish.just a quick question fibreglass kits are notorious for flexing and cracking is there any way to counteract this?

Nope is the answer fiberglass will flex and crack as i have learned from the engine cover as mine has sagged so it will require more work but i dont mind keeps me going i have done my best with the fiberglass and it will be up to the panel beather to get all the lines correct i know down the line it will crack i will just keep getting it fixed.

Yip the foam will help a bit i have talked to a two guys that buit the same car as me and they have never had a problem with cracking they say its down to the person skimming the car so it quality i will be after when the panel beather comes to skim the car and his work is flawless so i have faith in him

Thw weight wouldnt be must as its only galvanising that mainly gone into the car and that stuff is light enough. All the original body panels were removed from the car and the rear parcel shelf that weights alot that shelf and the whole rear booth was taken out here you go this is what i started with
