I'll go first.

My coolant temp sensor failed so now my ECU's not happy

I'm waiting on the part from Toyota now and hopefully then I can be back in action with a happy idle.

Welding a metal plate onto the fuel tank Don't worry, it's been bone dry for almost two years.

Making some intercooler shrouds.

Also changing oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, coolant, gearbox oil, power steering fluid and brake fluid on my wife's mk4 tdi golf.

Sold the Ford Ka2 last week

I don't know. I am waiting on some grommets that I ordered for my wire tuck.

Once the fuel tank is sorted, the engine won't be long going in after it.

Now hop to it and get your suspension sorted.

I'm working all weekend so nothing probably. Really need to finish off the bloody engine bay. Have everything bar coolant disconnected now so need to drain that and figure out how to drop the engine!

Is it possible to do a wire turck without removing the engine?

I finally shampooed and polished my MR2 All day today... removed enough tar to pave the M50 from the sides ..Holts tar remover FTW!

AG Shampoo and AG Super Resin Polish...she is looking very well now, paint looks alot darker now, might stick a coat of AG EGP tomorrow wax at and pick up some HD wax at some stage.

I changed out my coolant temp sensor today. Thankfully it was quite an easy job:

Here's a pic of the 3sgte coolant temp sensor (part number 89422-20010). Apparently this sensor is used on many different Toyota engines from the same era which makes sense!

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

It's a compact unit and given that they last circa 20 years I think it's worth the 50euro it cost me to buy a new one.

In this picture it is the green connector which makes it the highest of the two coolant temp sensors the gen2 3sgte uses:

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

First job, unplug the sensor connector and also the oil pressure sensor to give easier access for the 19mm spanner.

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

Crack the big nut and it undoes pretty easily

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

Then I slip a bit of blue absorbent cloth underneath to catch any drops or trickle of coolant and slowly undo by hand - mind out if you're doing this that there is a copper crush washer on there that can fly off under the car if you're not really watching or rushing..

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

new versus old

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

I didn't use any thread tape on this, there didn't seem to be any on the old one

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

Then tighten up the big nut back up

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

Thankfully my CEL light had gone out and the car was back running like normal. I went for a spin to get the engine nice and hot and no leaks. All in all an easy job, took about 5 minutes to do (doing the nut up is a bit fiddly) and good result.

Well this past weekend I got to move forward a little bit with my suspension arm refurb project. It required a couple of trips to B&Q and also managed to hammer the christ out of my thumb which was not really enjoyable you could say.

I have a couple of snaps on the camera so will have to get an update on here. Anyone else get any work done on their 2 this weekend? and any jobs planned for next weekend?

I have a little flaking paint behind the t-bar glass sections. I was in Halfords yesterday and picked up some painters wipes, sandpaper and a can of lacquer. I have the paint already so need to do the job when I get a moment. Any tips? I'm no pro but it has to be better than seeing more paint flake away.....

I had a similar experience when tightening aluminum into steel, nothing but a cutting disc would seperate them.
