clutch and brake to start 5 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hi everyone I'm new here and bought a 02 mr-s yesterday .

This morning I got a bit of a shock as the car wouldn't start checked as much as I could and charged battery and nothing after a good while I figured out she will only start if I clutch first hold it brake and hold it and then turn the key she fires straight away no bother ..

Is this normal I can't remember it being like that yesterday on the test drive though ?

Does it have an aftermarket alarm or immobiliser installed? If so it could be that.
I'd test your battery first to see if its holding charge correctly.
Then check simple things like plugs and leads.
Then perhaps the alternator.

you should just have to press the clutch while turning the key, that is the way my MR-S
works, have had a jap Yaris was the same, think it is a safety feature to prevent a child turning the key and taking off.
