Sounds extremely strange. Previous owner has no paperwork? how do you know that it is not stolen?

Well sometimes paperwork does get lost but first find out if it's stolen, if all is good get anyone with different handwriting to yours to write on any piece of paper that such a car was bought from such a person if you can remember his name grand if not then write any name.
Then they will ask for proof of when the car was imported into the country.

Hey Andywalsh1
Just seen your problem,I too was in this predicament !
So,I am here to steer you in the right direction !
Firstly you need to go on the DVLA website, here is the link
www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/upl...4961/V756_260215.pdf
Download the form send it off and DVLA will send you back the
"Export Certificate",with this "certificate"you will now be able to VRT your MR2 !
Hope this helps
