Hi Everyone,
really happy to join this forum. I'm in the market for an MR2, having just received approval from 'head office'.
I had a '92 NA for about 5yrs but sold it around 10 years ago because it was just impractical as a daily runner at the time - kids etc and new rear tyres every 6 months.
Never got over being without that car so looking forward to a new one now. I'm thinking of sticking to the NA's but t-bar this time (last one was sunroof) and I dont trust myself in the turbo.
Nice to meet you all!
Conor.

It's good to have you on board Conor.
You may already know this, but make sure that there are no leaks on the t-bar seals as they can give bother.

Hi folks,
Like Conor I'm also happy to join this forum,I've always admired the MR2 and purchased a 89 MK1 in Cork back in Nov.
I bought the car solely for summer use,to enyoy the experience until it's locked away for another summer.
Today was the day i decided to get her back on the road.
Ringing around for classic insurance wasn't as easy as i first thought as a few declined saying they don't cover that model of car but First Ireland did fully comp for a very reasonable price of €220 but one of the requirements was that i was a member of a vintage club,
Im guessing the MR2 i bought has been a member sometime in its life time as it has Classic Toyota Run and Nenagh Classic Car Club stickers down by the windscreen.
If anyone can hook me up with a membership number so i can get this beauty on the road I'd be very much greatful.
I'm from Newbridge and I'd like to bring the car to an MR2 specialist before she hits the road but don't know anyone local who works on MR2's,
I'm not a mechanic and don't pretend to be one,in fact i be as well off looking into a five acre field then looking into an engine bay but the body is excellent and interior spotless, she came with plenty of service history, was told under the car got under sealed and arches where also sealed but pockets could do with a little work,
Along with a service She could do with been tracked and balanced.
If anyone can help me out with above I'd very much appreciate it.
Cheers guys,
Paul.
Ps. I'll try throw up some photo's later when i get the chance.

Hi Paul.
The mk1 MR2 uses the same 4A-GE engine as some of the corollas of the same year. So most competent mechanics should be able to work on it.
The MR2 is more awkward to work on which can be off putting to some mechanics as it requires dexterity at times to get to certain parts.
Just keep an eye on the sills and the wheel arches as they are a well known part of the MR2 for rusting.

Hi mate, unfortunately due to software constraints pictures have always been a bit tricky on this forum. Take a look at this thread which might give some ideas:
