Thinking to buy a "Race" exhaust manifold.... 2 Years, 3 Months ago Karma: 15
Hi,

Thinking to do a little upgrade on the exhaust side and came across this.

STAINLESS STEEL RACE EXHAUST MANIFOLD

I am a little skeptical to be honest. Has anyone of you got some experience with these?
Would this worth ~ €200?

Thanks in advance

i'd go for it, I bought a £50 decat down pipe and was good quality, this is what I'll be getting but with a screamer pipe and external wastegate bolted onto a gt3071r ball bearing turbo

I was reading about it a bit, and apparently they like to crack and there are other drawbacks as well. I think this will be a no go. I'm not worried, I'm sure I can find another way to burn a couple hundred euros

I have a down pipe with a high flow cat con (no NCT drama) and that's doing a good job.

You will have some power with that turbo and your neighbors will love the screamer pipe

Cheers

The standard turbo manifold only becomes a restriction once you reach around 500bhp .

These things usually crack after they have been welded up and not de stressed after it. I welded 2 parts of 2 different manifolds together before and then bolted the head flange to a piece of angle iron (to keep it flat) and heated it up with oxy acetylene burners until it was all nearly glowing red. Then just let it cool naturally and it takes the stresses out caused by welding. If you had access to a big oven a 2 hour bake at 300 - 400 degrees would do the same.

Thanks for the tip mate.
It's a no go however, especially if I would need a different turbo.
