Time for me to move on with the times, I have for a while been looking at tablet PC's for use at home and work. What would you guys recommend product wise

Everything I operate is MS based as I am a simpleton.

So what do I need:
1. GSM enabled so I can work remotely on the work server.
2. MS operating system to ease integration with existing office and home software.
3. USB port (full size).
4. Durable construction (construction site works).
5. SD & Mini SD card reader.
6. Good camera (photos)
7. Wifi
8. In car charger available.
9. Processors capable of dealing with 3D models and AutoCAD type products.

I have searched and there are so many products I am confused, the Microsoft Surface sounds like it is the perfect product for me. Anybody know when it is on sale here.

Do you have a computer in work that stays in work? If so all you need to do is set up a cloud system, leave your computer in work on stanby when going home or working from home and you will be able to access it remotley from anywhere in the world and use all of the programs on it regardless of the spec of your own computer or tablet that your accessing it from.

Sounds like an ultra portable laptop might be your best bet. It will provide 100% compatibility and giveyou all the conns you might need.

Your probably right Spanky, but I am going to go for a tablet, I think waiting till the Suface comes out may be wise.

Then again there is always the ipad.

as dshamrcok said remote into a work computer would be handiest...the logmein app is great..I've used it on the iPhone to logon to servers when I get a call out of hours...its a pain to use on the phone though!

There is a sacrifice of some sort with every tablet option, the laptop would give you what you need-i know im right

Perhaps a touchscreen laptop is the best all rounder. You would have the touch interface with windows and more powerful graphics and cpu units beating any tablet hands down
