I got 2 yamaha waverunners gp1200, project to get done for the summer, both have engine problems piston seized up in the barrel and i think lack of oil could have caused the problem, since they are 2 stroke they need extra attention.
Here are some pics anyway

The cylinders have sleeves pressed into them so ill replace them and
the part im stuck at now is replacing the con rods on the crank, i cant unbolt them like a car, its like the crank has to be split, anyone got any ideas or experience with this?

Finally an update.
Got someone to split the crank and put con rods in,
Sleeves pushed in, block and head skimmed.
Now waiting for a full set of top end gaskets, one more piston and everything can be put back together

Impressive stuff - love the shiney look from new pistons...

I wonder could you belt up and down the grand canal on one of those? might be an alternative to the traffic

Sold the blue waverunner and started on the black one, the plan is to have it ready for when it gets warm

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Gonna sand it and respray it black since i have some black left from when i was spraying my mr2.

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Making up an axle for the trailer to tow it.

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Reed valves and carbs being checked over, couple of reed valves needed and one way plastic valves needed for the carbs.

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Gonna need a new crank...

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Also need a new block with sleeves and pistons, i may have that sorted though :)

Re: Got myself a couple of waverunners :) 2 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 72
I found a lad down the road who happened to have a block with new sleeves already pressed in, new pistons and a set of gaskets for the make and model of the engine i have, what a coincidence

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Need to weld the hole in the bottom of aluminium crank case.

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

All i need now is a crank and the engine should be ready :D

I have been working on this and taking pics but forgot to post about it with all the BBQ excitement :-/
Got a crank from ebay, new raceX pistons, new sleeves, head skimmed and a full set of gaskets

While building the engine i picked up another waverunner cheap without an engine and the engine im building happened to fit perfectly.

_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG

So slight change of plan, instead of sanding and respraying the black one ill put the engine into the new waverunner :)
Took out the impeller cleaned everything and changed all seals,
