gearbox issue 2 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 5
hi everyone..have a very slight grind in 3rd when downshifting at high revs.so iv decided ill rebuild the box when I'm fitting a new clutch.got a price from toyota for the syncros and bearings but it's stupid money..anyone know where I could purchase good parts at a half descent price and any tips would be appreciated.cheers

You could try TCBParts in the UK. I've bought suspension parts from them before, not sure if they go as far as gearbox internals but they often have OEM parts so you might give them a try?

have you tried changing the gearbox oil and see if it improves things?- slight grind in mine when I got it rfrom lack of use - no issues since I changed to the redline MT90

Yeah haardest thing is refilling it - I got it from here:

I got 4 bottles but you should only need 3 if you've an NA - not sure if they ship to ROI as I got it sent to ParecelMotel NI at the time

think the turbo takes a different spec redlie oil due to the lsd - someone else might be able to chime in

You could probably pick up a good 2nd hand box for less than this would cost, try an oil change first, or heeling and toeing when downshifting.

ya will try the oil..not guna buy a 2nd hand one as its just 2nd hand problems..only expense is buying the parts

no not Mike off background.use them alot though ..ah ya I ordered that oil of a place in Meath couture autos.dealt with a very helpful fella called sonny..should have it tomorrow hopefully.with the price of the stuff I could have bought the syncro.ha
