I think the hose from hell got it's name for very good reason. Unless you are sure it needs done or really want a challenge to your mental health I would leave it.

What symptoms do you have? As far as I know you need to be loosing a lot of coolant and located the cause of the leak to the main feed below the car, from the rad at the front.

EDIT: some info here for you www.mr2oc.co.uk/forums/198/91450.html

If you are going to take on that job, its mad not to use a genuine part to replace it with. Unless you fancy doing it again as the hose you used gave up after 2 weeks lol.

Some people say that this hose causes problems due to a design defect on the part of Toyota. Either that or the fact it is a bitch to get to is a design defect. Not sure, my head is mushy at the minute as I have been in work for 16 hours and counting .......

Worth a bit more research but I would suggest not using garden hose from B&Q

I changed that part a few years ago and it was a pain in the arse. A lot of it was down to working blind and feeling around.

Now my engine is out of the car I decided to get a 120* silicone hose and wrap it in heat reflective tape. The silicone should last longer than rubber.
