WOW - detailing uncovered... 11 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 314
I came across this thread recently where a guy brought a Rev3 back from the dead. I've no idea how the paint got in such a bad state to begin with, but he went from this:

to this:

He does not go in to a huge amount of detail on how he does it, I'm guessing he is using a power buffer rather than by hand..

If you're suffering from lag, you're either in the wrong gear or the wrong car!

Nice job, of course there is always the chance that it was actually resprayed. But if it wasnt, he must have given it a t-cut first and used one of these new nano-tech polishes that stimulates the paint at a molecular level and moves it around to cover scratches and revive the surface. These polishes can smooth out the surface of the paint and give an amazing finish. You spray on to a dry car after washing and drying and just lightly wipe in. You can get various types in Halfords for example, but I believe there is some serious stuff, only available in the states. I spoke to a guy recently who said he has been years trying to get this stuff, "somemthing brothers", is the name of it, cant remember. He found a dealer in the UK that brings it in now and its meant to be the holy grail of polish and gives showroom finish in no time with minimal effort. Must do a bit of research on that and let you know what I find.

Turtle wax Ice seems to be one of the best, readily available nanowax's.

Then there is the slightly more techy F21 by Turtlewax, one app per year!!

The best range I can see is Eagle1. Dont know if it is available here, but watch the video at the bottom of this page:

I done a taster course on car spraying last year. The guy taking it told me never to use tcut on a car. He got all upset then told us a story about a guy's wife taking a brillow pad to her husbands car.

Those buffers are great in fairness. I bought one recently, makes light work of a good heavy polishing session. Great results. Well worth the 35 quid I handed to Lidl.

Black unit in a green box. My local Lidl still has loads of them so if you cant find one, let me know and ill pick it up for you.

I have seen similar in Halfords for over 50quid.

To tell you the truth, I have not yet used it on my car, Thursday was the result of a 9euro Topaz jet wash which included a free air freshner and screenies!

The paint is only a few months old, so simply washing it and a light wax makes it look great and stay looking that way for a good week, pending road conditions.

Its still spotless now, bar the insect mass grave up the front!!

Nice - I dug out the brush and car wash when I got home on Sunday... There was some collection of bugs out that day!
