Straightliners Enniskillen 10 Years, 1 Month ago
|
|
Hi everyone,
Its nearly time for the first Straightliners Enniskillen of 2011.
Round 1 of the 2011 Championship will be held at St. Angelo's Airport, Enniskillen on the 10th April.
Gates open at 9am
Racing from 10am until 4pm
Class shootouts from 4pm until 5pm
If you want to race, come early so you can get plenty of runs, I think the record stands at 23 runs up the quarter mile, don't forget your helmet and drivers licence.
You can race anything you want as long as its in good order. Cars, bikes, quads, buggies. And you can race against anyone you like.
If you want to spectate. Racing is on all day, no breaks.
If you haven't been before, or have any questions, don't be afraid to ask.
Hope to see you all there.

Was at one of these last year. Good day out! Was raining last year though so not many good runs from the MR2's.

Hey Colin, how's things with ya????
I have provisionally arranged a dyno day at ECC on that Saturday. Trying to get numbers right now but not having too much luck. Has John mentioned anything to you? I know you were at the Toyota GT one last year.
Anyway, hope you are well. Say hi to rest of your folks from me

How's it going lad? Hope you and yours are well.
All good here. Phil became daddy to daughter number two just before Christmas.
And I've gone and got myself engaged.
Haven't seen John in ages, heard there was a dyno day coming up. Will try and make an appearance early on before we head down to set up.

congrats to you and Phil
I might make a trip down to Enniskillen this year to see the racing, but one petrolhead day in a weekend may be enough
See you soon, bud

Just a question chaps, but does anyone know why Ireland doesn't have a dedicated drag strip??

I would guess it's lack of demand more than anything else.

It was a bit of unfortunate timing as the day was on the same weekend as the dyno day that had been notified to everyone at an earlier date.
Also a bunch of us met up in Enniskillen around Aug/Sep last year (in pouring rain ). It's a huge drive from Dublin and (for me anyway) it was going to be tough to tackle it after Armagh the day before.
If someone wants to setup a drag strip in Port Laoise then it's fair for everyone and you'd see me at it regularly
I think straight liners runs twice a year so we'll get another chance to meet up there this year anyway

Thought id replied here already but maybe not, had a good enough day up drag racing, quickest time i managed was 14 dead but the car was suffering from the heat big time, the intake temps were through the roof and kept puttin the ecu into limp mode, wouldnt rev past 2.5k. Should have that sorted the next time we're up there, time for either NOS or some sort of intercooler spray to lower the temps.By the end of the day was pushin the car the full lenght of the queue before startin the car to race, seemed like a lot of people were suffer the same way

I seen the video yesterday Dara, you can really see when she bogs down. Can I ask what fuel you are running, are you on standard boost, would a charge cooler fit on top of the engine in the corolla.
If it was me for drag racing I would get water or meth injection not sure if it needs anything ECU wise to operate correctly. As then you can use it as needed to keep knock at bay.

It wasnt too bad gettin off the line, was happy enough with it, the launch control is set at 4.5k revs, dont want to launch it much higher cause im still on the standard clutch, but its copin well with all the launchs!
Im using 95ron petrol, its mapped for that on the LINK G4, boost is just over 1bar. Whats needed to set up meth injection, im sure it can be setup using my own ecu? If that would help lower the intake temps it would help big time

I would start with the cheapest option and put 97 octane in it then some octane booster as well to minimise the knock as this is what pulls the car into safe mode.
Then if you need to do more to get rid of knock, go with the Meth or water injection.

There are more people here that know about this stuff than me but do some research and hopefully others will chime in.
