For folks that are new to MR2 Drivers, please see below a walk through on how to set your user avatar.
Q. What is an avatar?
A. It is the small picture that sits underneath your name in the right hand margin when you post.
Q. Why have an avatar?
A. If you don't choose an avatar then the site will assign you the standard 'no photo' one that looks like this:

Using an avatar is an individual customisation that can make the site feel more like home for you, it also helps others because after seeing your avatar a few times they associate the picture with you. When you are reading a very long thread it's sometimes useful to be able to glance at the avatar and no who is talking, rather than having to take the time to read the users name. Another by product of the avatar is that the more it is seen, then the more people will trust you in this virtual community; that is if you're conducting yourself in a trustworthy fashion!
Some interesting facts:
* If your avatar is offensive - people will assume you are offensive and will avoid you in the virtual world and the real world
* If your avatar shows a red car - people will assume you have a red car even if your car is not red :hmm:
* If your avatar is of a well known brand (e.g. James Bond); and you conduct yourself as a total c*ck; online. Forum members will rally to have you banned as you are detrimental to the well known and well loved brand. (I swear I was doing the rallying, not the detrimenting) B)
* If you use an avatar that is already in use, people will easilly confuse you for the other person who uses that avatar, despite having a completely different username.
* Some avatars can be animated (if they are .gif images). This looks very cool, but because of the novelty factor, be prepared that other people will steal your avatar and then you're easily confused.
Q. OK, OK, I get it, how do I setup my own avatar?
A. Step1: when logged in to the site, click the 'My Profile' link

Step2: select 'My Avatar'

Step3: on this page, you can browse your local drive for a picture to upload as your avatar, once you have selected the file, you need to press 'Upload' and then 'Confirm Choice' at the bottom. If you do not have a file to upload and just want to use something to get started, then it is possible to select any of the pictures from the Default Gallery and then click 'Confirm Choice'.

Q. I did all that but my avatar will not display?
A. You might be trying to upload a very large picture that the site will not support. The site will automatically resize down to 100px by 100px for the Avatar but it will only go so far. Best bet is to resize down to something close to that and you should have no problem.
So I hope that answers most of the questions. If anyone runs in to any probs then post up a response here and we should be able to get you sorted out.

@B4DarK There is a slight issue with uploading avatars at the moment the site owner is looking at it! your not the only one...
