The damage aspect to other peoples property is definitely a concern. But as far as I can see, it was due to being left overnight and unattended, and also for not being secured properly.

There is a massive difference between securing them with 3' 2x2 wooden stakes buried 1'6" into the ground and just being secured with 6" metal stakes.

The day was a great success, and no small part of that was everybody's contributions.

The reason behind, and for this thread, is to try and improve for other shows.

Make no mistake if a car was damaged and it happened to be insurered to the eyeballs you may find your assets in danger from some big insurer who could not care less wheter you have a home to live in of food for your children. Yes, it could be that serious, but worse still if somebody was hurt. Who fancies a personnel injuries law suit

And after that light bulb went on in my head, "I'am out" on the purchase option, sorry.

I had a look at the marquees we have up at the uni currently. They are 6x2 metal structures tied together at every junction by meaty pins.

I know from seeing it last year the metal stakes put into the ground (4 of them at every corner and every 2m along its length) are about 2 foot long with horns/hooks on them.

This is a very different scale to the eBay tent.

Yes Marktina sorry I was mistaken. LOL

As for the marquee jesus that the mother of all, don't think we need that level of an install.

But we do need to sell of the responsibility.

We couldn't afford to buy anything like this but this is the sort of level you would have needed on Sunday.

Just looking to budget for the car show season later this year. All shows within 30 miles of Rathcoole. Could be looking to hire 2-3 time per year, will probably need extras as well but that can be discussed closer to order time.

Well now, thats only 20euro a head between 10 people and eliminates a LOT of problems.

They did not however mention assembly and disassembly. I wonder if that is included.

Based on that and whatever extras we ended up with, it could end up being 30 or 40 a head plus entrance to the show. So I am guessing MAX 50euro a head for 10 people to attend a show with full marquee, BBQ, lights tables and chairs and so on.

For me, personally, I would be happy to pay that once or twice a year to attend a couple of good shows. Its actually a cheap day out and bare in mind we get to spend a whole day out doors, enjoying each others company, cars and all the other cars, with no headaches.

I keep kinda going back and forth on this one, but thinking hard about all the pros and cons, more so now the liabilities, this might be the better option afterall.

Good work Ray.

Now we are talking!

I would recommend seeking assurances through a certificate of public liability insurance also and ensure that it covers 'force majeur' (i.e. act of god - extreme weather). Otherwise the supplier or their insurer could bow out of responsibilities. If that did happen, is it the group of us that gets sued? or just the person who paid with their credit card for the rental?

An overall better option, is if we as a 'group' (rather than a club), could rent the marquee through the show organisers, then it is all their responsibility.

Another option would be to buy a big truck or something, insure it through Quinn or whatever and then drive it to the shows.. Could leave it all setup with a bbq etc even, although it would be higher cost again and also where do you keep it etc.

hmm, what a Quandry!

Sorry I did not read closely enough, if we are assembling, then going by common sense that pretty much eliminates any liability coverage if it flies away in the wind and damages something.

This seems like a decent price with no potential worries etc.

If you want to spend money on anything then some cheap folding garden furniture and cooking equipment would be better. It could also be used at driving meets.

Good work Ray ... a much coveted Spanky click for you

My quote request was specifically for assembly and dissemble, jess what up, do you all speed read or what, bloody turbo drivers.

The only insurance that would need to be checked is the suppliers, he erects his risk, but I can see difficulties with that from an insurance point of view. The question can be asked and evidence requested.

the insurance would be public liability cover to €x million - probably decided by the event organiser - but in the region of 5-10mill if they didn't specify.

"bloody turbo owners" ..... really ..... I read it all slowly (the only speed I can read). Unlike my car which is fast - the only speed it knows
