Westward, Dyno run 15/09, 09-45. 6 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 327
I am getting my track car dyno'd soon in Westward Engineering, is anybody interested in joining me on the day.

15th Sept for a dyno session is provisionally booked dyno starting at 10-00 sharp.

Be there for 09-45 if you can.

Numbers are limited to ten to ensure each customer gets the input they require after the run.

Other brands of cars are welcome however they will need to wait till the MR2's are done to allow the dyno be reset for different wheelbase length, etc.

Dyno

Want to see how much power your car is putting out?

We offer 2wd Dyno run @ € 60.00
We offer 4wd Dyno run @ € 100.00

Power runs include a print-out of your full power & torque curves.

Our technician will give you advice on how your car is performing and if any additional improvements can be made

The dyno itself is as follows and if anybody needs any particular readings done please advise and I will check with them if there is a cost implication.

Maha Dyno

Maha LPS 13 2wd Dynomometer
This is a Loading Type, Eddy Current Dyno that can hold an engine at a fixed RPM. It also incorporates the latest computer software so we can do power runs that are extremely accurate and repeatable.

It can give print-outs of both power and torque, show power at flywheel and at the wheels, and give an accurate road speed. This is very useful if you want to gear your car to suit the engines torque and power band.

We use a very powerful MAHA Air 7Cooling Fan. This is very important as it keeps any engine cool while being mapped or tuned.

I'll prob head down to this ... looks like my car isn't selling so may as well get the starting point before I boost it over the 300bhp mark

Is there a chance of a reduction on the cost, with a certain amount of people?

Also, I will list on MR2OC and alert everyone I know, to see if we can get a few numbers

Re: Westward, Dyno run. 6 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 25
I know Westward and Martin are very thorough and wont half arse anything, I would just like to add this for your attention. We put out track car on a dyno with a large fan blowing at the rad and a smaller one blowing at the air intake. AFRs were showing the car running very rich, so we bought a SAFC to lean it out a bit.

When we took the car to the track, using the same wideband sensor, the AFRs were much improved and hardly any fuel needed to be taken out.

What I am saying is power is reduced with rich mixtures, a good sized fan blowing air directly into the intake is quite important when running a 2 on the dyno.

Nice one lads, a good turn of numbers, I was over there tonight and the 15/09 is provisionally booked. Just need to confirm approx numbers for the weekend.

They will run dyno sessions with lots of people but prefer to keep the numbers down to less than 10, so I am going to limit it to that. This gives them time to give everyone the input they deserve after the run to explain things or where improvements can be made if any.

Time will be about 9-45, as he likes to get things going about 10-00, don't know how that suits Spanky and Ricky but if you were there for 10-45 or so I would say it would be grand.

Don't expect to get your ego massaged by this dyno. It is well know as one of the most accurate in the country, and Westward are one of the most respected tuners in Motorsport across the island. I think all in you will get an excellent service for the money.

Discount wise, they are not offering anything yet and as they are not interested in the quantity of people turning up I don't know if we will get any. But it doesn't hurt to ask

Sounds good to me breakfast at 9-00 followed by 20 minute drive to Westward if that suits yourselves.

I just confired the 15/09 with them for the dyno run for those on the list there for 09-45 per original post.

ceramicpower wrote:

Talked to him on this, as the car would need a couple of runs to get it right it would be best to do this seperately.

As far as I know, everyone on that list is south of the border, however, if there is anyone heading from N Ireland drop me a PM and we can meet up on the way down.

Probably planning to meet at McDonald's, Newry for breakfast - We will get one at yours some other time Sliper

BTW, I can duck out of getting my car tested if someone else wants theirs done and the numbers are limited so don't let the full list put you off

What time are you planning to meet at mine still planning a few brekkie sambo's for you if you want to avoid the McD's.

I suggest you go cross country to have a bit of a run on the way down. Via N52, Ardee, Kells, Athboy and to mine, beware of bumpy road from Athboy to mine, but you know that already.

No problem on the numbers, you will get a run. May help with the sales pitch to have a dyno read out.
