Right folks,

Putting my Mk1 up for sale.
I've owned it since May of last year and bought it at 75,938 miles. Since that time I've sunk a lot of dough into it and have had some good times in it.

In the past year the car has got:
Oil, oil filter, air filter and spark plugs changed
15" Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2 alloys with Bridgestone Turanza (over 50% left on thread)
Timing belt and tensioner changed
Leather handbrake and gear gaiters
Gearbox from my other Mk1 with 67k miles so no 5th gear popping issues
All brakes fitted with new seals and bolts.
New pads and discs all round
Replacement radiator (genuine Toyota) from a low mileage example and coolant flushed
New battery
Gear pattern badge replaced

I put it through the NCT on Tues 3rd July and it failed on the following:
One spot of rust/corrosion at the rear driver's underside/suspension mounting point (I knew about this prior to test as it was knocking from rear - have been quoted €140 to repair)
Exhaust blowing - will need a replacement
Handbrake effort - cable will need adjusting.

The car is now on 81,500 miles and is sitting up as I had it on classic insurance and I need NCT to insure it.

I'm after buying a Clio 172 so I'd like to move it on quickly.
Bad points:
I never wired up the radio. Never bothered me TBH. I can supply original tape player and/or a CD player for the purchaser
Passenger rear arch is beginning to bubble
Electric mirrors not working (again not something that bothered me)
Tax just out in June

I have a lot of spares which I will throw in for nothing for any purchaser (including rare Recaro Supercharger seats which need repair - check the price out on these!!)

I'm putting a price of €1,800 which I think is decent considering the money was spent over the last year (more than double the asking price).
As always, price is negotiable and I will consider reasonable offers.
If you've any further questions, please PM or contact me at 087 6664300.
I may consider a swap PX with cash my way for something over 15 years old that qualifies for classic insurance (preferrably a BMW E30 to keep the other half happy!)
Cheers, Paddy

Further info on the car can be got from my thread over on Octane:

Re: 1989 MR2 Mk1 9 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 3
I know I'll regret it, it's my 2nd Mk1 but it's sitting up outside the house and it's time for something different.
I'd just like to confirm that it's not 'mint' as per some of the Donedeal chancers but it's in decent nick and has a lot of preventative jobs done which are common to these cars. I'll be as honest as I can and I believe it'll be better than a lot of scrap heaps that are/will be on the market on this side of the water.

Probably not to be honest, I'm a bit busy in the morning so I'll see how that goes.

I'd consider a swap/part exchange with a Mk2 over 15 years if that's any good to anybody

Padji, My Da and I are interested in looking at this during the week, can you PM me your number and I will get in touch. Father is looking for an honest car and this seems to be it. May also be able to work something out on the swap / exchange option.

Bumpety bump.

Some good news. The little red wagon passed its NCT today!
Following the last NCT, I needed to get a suspesion mounting point repaired/welded, full exhaust system replaced (with a 2nd hand version mind) and the handbrake cables replaced. Luckily I had relatively new cables left over from the white Mk1.

Anyway, passed with flying colours today at 81,640 miles but backdated to April 2013. All in all, a good result and she'll be officially back on the road when I get the classic insurance sorted again.

She's still on the market so anyone looking for a Mk1 or has a nice E30 or something interesting for a swap or PX, drop me a line.
The price quoted is the "Donedeal price" so it's negotiable and, of course, an MR2.ie discount applies!

I don't Greg, I actually had 2 set but sold both of them.
Have a huge amount of other spares which can be sold separately or come with the car as part of sale.

Greg,

The car is located in Dundalk.
Depending on where you're coming from, I could meet somewhere convenient.

Still for sale folks and she's now back on the road.
Missed out on the last E30 we looked at but something else has popped up and would like to have a look at it so would prefer to move this on.
Offers etc. considered. Price dropped to €1,500 on Donedeal.

Cheers,
Paddy
