Given that the car is 20 years old and has no real performance mods (generally accepted that NAs cant be modded in any real way), the fact you have got a time that is about 0.5secs better that the car should have been out of the factory would suggest to me that you haven't measured it properly

All of the NAs are quoted as giving a 0-60 of around 7.7secs. There are a lot of variables in achieving this so this would only be the measured time in ideal conditions i.e. perfect fuel, conditions and driver.

In the wet I would suggest a time of 8.5 secs would be a good result all things considered.

The turbo models vary a little in 0-60 times through the revs but typically sit around 5.5 secs

are you measuring off the speedo or sat nav?

Speedos read about 10% rich generally.

It isn't necessarily true to say that speedo's read rich. From the factory they do and if you dont change the gearbox and everything after then it would stay the same. If you have a larger rolling circumference on your wheel than the standard then the speedo will be less rich and maybe read slow.

Use a sat nav to 'calibrate' your speedo so you can see where on your dial a true 60mph is.

You can also get apps for smartphones that will measure your 0-60 time but these aren't very accurate, but then again, neither is a guy sitting in the passenger seat.

Either method is good enough to give an idea though

On standard wheels the speedo will read about 10% faster, so true 60mpd is about 66. Once I put on my 17" wheels my speedo read almost perfectly true as the overall circumference had increased. It only takes a small increase to make a difference.

Ya, I have to agree with Spanky there - measure your speedo with the sat nav and use the speedo as the point of reference. My speedo is about 8% rich, on standard wheels and tyres.

Have fun and report back!

Amazing how quick a car will accelerate when the wheels aren't on the ground

You wish ;p haha. No car is complete standard(almost just intake K&N and wheels ADVAN 17') but as I said, the engine is rebuilt.
