I had the throttle body off the car recently and I noticed that i could see light past the butterfly valve when shut.

Shouldnt this seal completely close otherwise air will get through messing up the air/fuel ratio?

Ive been chasing a misfire/idle issue and was wondering if this could be connected?

I could be wrong, but if it was air tight when shut, wouldn't the car stall on idle ?

I know there is a small hole in the throttle body, which i'm sure is for idle, but at only 1mm wide, i'd doubt it's enough on it's own to feed the engine with enough air to keep it running ?
