right lads changed my battery and alternator due to loss of battery volts , if I drove it every day no problem , but if I left it 2-3 days battery would be stone flat so changed the alternator and changed the battery for good will now when its on idel its showing 18+ volts any ideas

18 volts is very high!? with the engine running it should be somewhere around 13.4v (I think). Normally the regulator in your alternator would control the voltage, I wonder maybe you have a faulty reg? or if your battery is really flat the reg could be trying to charge it by really upping the volts. Are you sure you haven't got a 24volt battery and it's really flat??

that old battery is only a few months old i bought it new a few weeks before you bought the car. it could be the terminals they werent great when i had it and thats why its going dead and its trying to recharge the battry at 18 volts thats my thoughts anyway

no the battery is brand new and replaced them terminals the only thing is the alternator had 3wires one was white and the other two were different so I took a chance but maybe I might need to swap them 2 wires around again

Check the battery voltage when its running at idle with a multimeter at the battery terminals. It may be a misread by the dash meter, but it could also be a partial alternator failure.

solved as far as I know was a mixed up wire on the alternator
