Power steering 7 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 3
Hi was wondering is it a big job to put power steering into a none power steering mr2 1992 as I have a ferrari rep and with the big wheels the steering is very heavy thanks in advance

I have not done it, but I would imagine that it would take a couple of days to do by yourself.

Parts needed:

Steering angle sensor
Power steering ecu
Loom
Pump
Power steering rack
Power steering relay
Hydraulic pipes and hoses

I probably missed something else.

My 1998 track car is being stripped at the moment. Do you want to try doing the job with all the stuff I can remove from the car.

I never seen anybody do it before so not sure what is envolved and what signals the PS ECU needs to work. AFAIK the MR2's power steering is speed related and may need an input to operate properly.

Thanks but i have a car here with power steering so I have all the parts that I will need it just someone said it not was worth the hassle I thought maybe somebody on here might of do it or new someone that did

No problem, good luck with the swap if you go ahead with it. I have no experience of this type of swap so can offer little else Kc'd for good luck.
