HD Wax Results 6 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 284
I finished my car tonight and Swagger did his aswell, unfortunately its Dusk here now so we cant see the maximum shine but the results look great, I would say it definately brings up the shine better on non white cars, i also did a quick vid on the beading compared to non hd wax car(neighbours car )

As Quandry would say "What do YOU think"

Frank, its Auto Glym HD (High Definition) wax. Dave bought it, very expensive stuff, but as you can see, is pure magic. By far the best thing I have ever used. Good bit of sweat required and your arm will be hanging off but well worth it. It comes with two pre dampened special applicator sponges and a microfibre cloth for removal. You work it well in to the entire car in small circles, body, plastic, trim, lights, windows, EVERYTHING. Leave it for 20 mins and wipe off. Its like vaseline, or petroleum jelly to you guys in the US, ie, is kind of greasy as opposed to powdery, so there is no white residue left behind, which is really annoying.

Well good! Im going to buy some myself. It is supposed to last for 50 washes, the dirt and water should just roll off!

Nice!

Vid turned out well Dave. Frank, that's me who he calls dickhead BTW!

EDIT: We also T-cutted the rear lights, WOW, they look brand new, like out of the box!!
I then stuck on my new RED rear light corner reflectors that I got from RPM Garage, rollin US style!

Holy shit thats some result there, it like a force field around the car preventing water from touching it. Cool, must give it a go and t-cut the lights.

Yeh it means the rain isnt going to sit on the car as long so if you have tiny pin holes of rust or anything it will prevent it from getting worse etc, I have plenty left so next time you drop up in your car we can do it

Dave was saying earlier that he read a review where one guy used this stuff and claims he doesnt even need to use is wipers in the rain, the water just floats off with the wind. Looking forward to seeing how true that is

when it rains it either runs staight off in heavy rain or in misty rain it sits as droplets, I'd still use the wipers, wouldnt fancy rear ending the car in front of me and think, "shite, why the fuck didnt i use the wipers, im a bleeding idiot, the car is fucked now, but hey I wont need to use my wipers on this car again"

True that, but I still want to see how effective it is, I mean if its not clearing enough, ill just hit the wiper. Should be interesting.

I think you will be more than happy with the results Frank. Just wish I had come across this stuff before now. Fair play Dave for taking the plunge, buying it and sharing it with me. I think I owe you a KC when I can give one again. Ill hit you up in the morning.

Sounds very interesting. Never heard of a wax like that before that can be used on everything, no more horrible white streaks on plastic trim then or powdery stuff caught between the panels!

Have any of ye tried Zymol? Thats what I normally use and I can't see how it could be beaten for the shine it gives.

What about the spray-on/wipe-off waxes that seem to be v popular these days, are they any good?

yep, no more powdering on the car or getting ingrained to the plastics, yes I heard of both of them, I have a spray wax with nano technology aswell, it works well but doesnt really survive a wash or two, to be honest the reason I went for this was because of the supposed longevity of it, I'm hoping i'll get at least 6 months protection on the car from one application, From what I hear "Poorboys QD+1" is unbeatable for shine but youd have to keep topping it up but I havent seen it in Ireland, I'll let you know how the beading is after a few washes

We spent about 2hrs washing, drying, waxing, & taking off the wax, Oh and t-cutting the back lights, so in theory when i go to wash it the next time i'll just need to give it a quick wipe over, I cant lean against my wing or sit on the bonnet cause i just slide off

Never heard of Zymol or Poorboys, but I have Turtle Wax Nano Tech spray wax. Used it on the car at the vintage show. Great shine, but doesnt last long. This HD stuff is meant to last 50 washes. Best I have seen yet, really liked the texture of it, even smells great!

Was no harder than using any other wax, ie, how fussy and thorough you are will dicate how long you spend doing it, but we covered every single square inch of the cars and also detailed the wheels at the end. As Dave said, approx 2 hours all in. Im hoping the next few washes will be 10 minute wonders.

Its nice that there is absolute zero residue anywhere, and once dried in, this stuff wipes away pretty easily with a good microfibre cloth.

Magic, just do as you would on body work. Apply and rub in hard, in small circles for as long as you can bare it. Make sure to get in all the details. Allow to dry in, grab a fresh clean cloth and clean it off. Add salt and serve.
