so - its coming to that time to replace the tyres - still a bit left on them but not the best tyre in the world

in 2 minds to revert to stock 195 / 55 / VR15

or continue with 205 / 50 / VR15

thoughts people?

From what I have read the MR2 can suffer from more understeer with the 205's up front in the wet. How true that is I don't know, and probably more at the limits of performance than not.

No experience on this myself though and use 195 on the front of the track car.

Personally I'd stay with stock 195's but my mk2 didn't have power steering.
I'd say it doesn't affect handling too much as long as you keep the staggered setup.

Which are dearer?

Here's what may make up your mind - Lowering Springs or uprated Suspension. These are designed for the MR2 with stock 195 / 55 / VR15's

I'm running Tein Super Streets and the 205 width up front fouls the springs without spacers
Mind you there 17's and I'm told 5mm spacers will sort it but I'm a fan of the stock setup

I have 205/50/15 on mine, and was 195/55/15 originally. Price was the motivator, haven't noticed any better or worse understeer. A quality tyre will always be good, If you buy a cheap tyre, be prepared for the lack of grip.

Just an update on those sonar tyres I got seems the grip in them is brilliant tried the out good and hard but my problem is the sidewall is too soft and is making the car sway at speed instead of holding the car it just sways seen it happen when I put the mirror to the rear tyres while driving and if I get out and push the car from side to side it moves alot.
