Termostate gone on a 92 NA! 3 Years, 12 Months ago Karma: 5
Will get to a quarter in a longer journey but on my way to work 10 miles barely razes up! Just wondering does this effect the performance in terms of being linked to the brain telling it she is to cold whilst using more fuel when ultimately she isn't? Will get round to changing it eventually still feels as lively as day I bought it def shouldn't be head gasket allow these all run abit hot in there the cooling fan seems to be on a lot with no warning lights have read some people pull a sensor out for fan to run all the time?

Also the heat cover thing is missing on the engine lid unsure if they are necessary as there wasn't one on my turbo,

I had a similar problem and it was the temp sensor. Could also be the thermostat (or both). Thermostats are normally pretty cheap to buy but keep it in mind that the sensor is also a likely suspect on cars of this age.

cheers!

If you're suffering from lag, you're either in the wrong gear or the wrong car!

Weird thing is it started working again at the weekend and every since! I did put an induction kit in and cable tied the air temp sensor near to were it originally was unsure if that was connected very strange. Could be all in my head but think the car is going better now that she is warming up right on the gauge.

The coolant temp sensors are on that side of the motor. You may have had a loose connection, bumped it when you were fitting the induction kit and now it's all good again. Check for loose connections
